I recently had a great idea for a website.  And it will remain an idea until someone invents it on their own and has more ambition / ability to make my idea a reality.  I'm pessimistic about making such a website a reality becuase:

 - It requies a good amount of data mining and organization.  And not the kind of data mining that can be done with a cool piece of software.  This is the kind that requires man hours.  Man hours I just don't have.

- I have no idea how to make money on the interweb.  Frankly, if I was going to put that much time into a website, I'd like the get paid for my efforts.  Screw the common man who would benefit from the useless information my website would provide.  I'm greedy that way.

I signed up for Facebook.   Not sure why, but I think someone convinced me I should.  I can't figure out how it works, yet.  More importantly, I'm finding myself in a moral dilemma.  I get the whole social networking / reconnect with lost friends thing.  And I'm cool with that.  There are a number of people with whom I've lost touch.  But I'm getting friend requests from people who I have never really been friends with or, if I was, I have no real interest in keeping in touch with them.  So I'm inclined to ignore those people.  But then I feel shitty about ignoring someone for no really good reason.  Does he who dies with the most friends win?  I see some people with 450 friends.  That's absurd.  I'm not sure I know 450 people.  WFT am I supposed to do?  Jesus, I feel old.

I went to see Sugar, Ryan Fleck's new movie.  Really freaking good.  It makes me wish my old studio didn't make me pass on his short (which became Half Nelson.)

Tomorrow's election day.  By the end of it, I'll either be relieved or really fucking pissed off.  And it has nothing to do with the presidential race.

Please God, let our Constitution continue to mean something.

We have no idea.  Our's baby is very modest and didn't want to show us the goods.  Our second ultrasound showed us that we have a very uncooperative baby.  For a little while, it jammed itself up against the placenta.  When it rolled over, it kept it's hand on it's crotch and it's legs crossed.  Look!  Photographic evidence!

My old mistress Phish sent me an e-mail saying they wanted to see me.  As if to punish me for succumbing to temptation 40+ times in the past, she decided the illicit rendevous would be March 6th in Virginia.   Unfortunately for them, I've kind of got a baby due March 5th.  So... um... sorry, dear, I can't be cheating on my wife and child like I did on my ex-girlfriend.  When I was 25, facing certain consequences might have been worth it.  Now... not so much.

However... You want meet up in Vegas, I'm so there.

Crazy summer.  This is what I did.

1.  Impregnated my wife.  Amazingly on the first try.  I have superhuman sperm.

2.  Vacationed!  What's that you say?  Who has time for that?  I got to sneak away to Chicago and San Francisco.  Got to play tourist in my home town which is a unique way to do things.  I had never been to SF before.  Cool town.  Wouldn't want to live there but it's got some charm which was refreshing.

3.  Fear Itself.  I can't even link to it.  NBC's taken it off their website.  Oh, well.  I can't vouch for it's viewing quality, but working on it was awesome.  I got to work with a lot of different directors and none of them were dicks!  There was some crazy, but no meanness.  Good crew.  Good room.  New challenges every week.  Good times.

4.  The Stoning of Soraya M.  Probably the best movie I've worked on.  Certainly some of my best sound work.  Really good experience.  The director put a lot of trust in us and let us have a lot of creative freedom.  And I think we turned out a pretty good movie.  It took 3rd in the audience voting at the Toronto Film festival.  It's a tough movie to watch content wise but I hope it gets a good theatrical release.  It'll be nice to have a movie play in more than 1 theater nationwide.  It's also reassuring that every movie I work on sounds better than the previous movie.  Things to look forward to.

Now that it's fall,  I started Knight Rider.  I had always said that Fear Itself was the hardest show I could imagine working on becuase it's very busy sonically, and the sound plays such an important role in horror movies.  Then I started mixing Knight Rider.  It's Fear x 100.  I've never been so exhausted after a non-overtime mix.  But it's a fun show to work on.  Good people in the room, too.  My partner has mixed at least 15 of my favorite movies.   Things are looking up.

I just bought the new Neal Stephenson book.  It's 900 pages before the glossary.  If my current reading habits persist, I will finish the book by December 2010.
